This year I celebrate my birthday in style, with my horse, my gaited riding buddies, and a BEER! We’re going to ride to the Waredaca Brewing Company (you can find them on Facebook and at www.waredacabrewing.com). Bring a lead rope, bring $$ for a libation and/or local cheese and crackers, bring your id☺.  Outside food is also welcome. We will tie to fence posts (not the planks) in the pasture behind the brewery, and we will take turns going inside and staying outside with the horses at the request of the Farm and the Brewery.

The trails include hills, water crossings, usually some mud, and generally decent footing for barefoot horses. We will be in the saddle at least 4 hours total, 2+ hours to the brewery, 2+ hours back. We won’t race there, but I’d like not to dawdle either.

Happy New Year!

Eleven of us met at Rockburn on 1-1-2016 to start the New Year off right!

2016-01-01-Toast

Kim was our ride host and brought toasts for us before the ride – and “Stud Muffin” horse treats for our 4-legged friends after the ride.

We hit the trail at 11 am. A couple of times, we were able to split into faster and slower groups to meet up further down the trail.

2016-01-01-Group

At one point, Karen (maroon vest, on Royal the buckskin) nearly got a bath, as Royal thought the creek crossing was a good place to roll! She quickly pulled her foot out of the stirrup and got him up – Royal had a nice wet belly and Karen never got wet!

A great time was had by all!
